The kids who think they are really funny and decide to try and steal the spotlight from him... do not have a mental disability.
they are just really stupid.

Doesn't seem to bother Gabe that much... Sure, some of the kids suck shit but Gabe appears to be enjoying it. It quickly becomes a massive group dance, which looks kinda fun...
Also, no one seems to be patronizing Gabe... in fact, eveyone appears to be having fun...
