Senator Robert Byrd dies at 92

"WASHINGTON — Senator Robert C. Byrd, a son of West Virginia coal country who used his mastery of Senate rules and a taste for hardball tactics to become a passionate and often feared advocate for the state and the Senate he loved, died Monday at age 92.

The Democrat's 51 years in the Senate made him the longest serving senator in history, while his white mane, stentorian voice and flamboyant speeches citing Roman emperors gave him the presence of a man from a grander, distant time.

In many ways, Byrd embodied the changes the nation has undergone in the past half century. A one-time segregationist and opponent of civil rights legislation, he evolved into a liberal hero as one of the earliest, unrepentant and most vocal foes of the Iraq war and a supporter of the rights of gays to serve in the military. He was the acknowledged Senate Renaissance man, who could recite poetry by memory for hours and yet be ruthless in advancing his legislative agenda — which often involved corralling federal dollars for his perpetually struggling state.

As the Senate opened Monday, Byrd's desk was draped in black cloth with a bowl of white roses. Flags outside the White House and the Capitol flew at half-staff.

Senators who came to the floor to pay tribute recognized both his longevity — he served longer and cast more votes than any senator in history — and the tenacity in which he defended the traditions and prerogatives of the Senate.

"Senator Byrd's ambition was legendary," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., recalling how shortly after he first took his oath of office on January 3, 1959, the same day Alaska became a state, he told a local newspaper that he wanted to someday chair the Senate Appropriations Committee. "Thirty years later, he was — and then lived and served for 21 more."

In many ways a throwback to an era of powerful orators such as Henry Clay or John C. Calhoun, the stiff and formal Byrd could speak at great length with fire and passion, mixing references to the Roman Empire with emotional memories of his almost seven decades with his late wife Erma."

Zach Anner vs OPPRESSION

I don't rely like Oprah, I think she is a witch. I do like what she does to cover up how horrid she is, for example her search for the next TV star contest YOUR OWN SHOW. Contestants send in vids on their show idea. Most are corny, some are definitely a bad idea, THIS GUY Zach Anner is heart melting and I like hims a lot. His idea for a travel show for people who never thought they could travel and his attitude greatly interests me.

The current controversy with this is, for the last couple weeks Zach has been front runner and crowd favourite and suddenly dis silly bitch Dr. Phyllis (she wants a reality show on and about students and teachers), gets a bunch of votes outta thin air, Zach's plummits. Zach's votes don't register. Internal scripting shenanigans. I CALL BULLSHIT ON YOU OPRAH. GET YOUR FUCKIN ACT TOGETHER.

Suddenly, man attacked from behind. Is Soviet troops. Man did not distribute letters evenly among his peers for warmth from burn, so is executed.

in the likes of real life rambo, a couple nights ago an american by the name of gary brooks faulkner (this guy^^) was detained in pakistan with a pistol, night vision goggles and a sword!, on the hunt to find and kill osama bin laden! he was caught somewhere in the mountains between the afghan and pakistani border. a construction worker from denver, gary sold all of his tools to fund his trip and went into the areas considered to be osama's last known hiding places. i love this story, this guy (a 3 time ex-convict) decided to just say "fuck it, i'll go kill him myself", his family was behind his wishes. true, it was somewhat religiously fueled, as faulkner is a staunch christian, but still pretty badass nonetheless. he hasn't actually been charged with anything, hopefully they'll just set em loose...

One night man is riding mule down dirt road. Young woman stands on side of road, calls out for ride home. Is very cold in Soviet winter. Man takes off coat and puts it on back of mule. Girl is also cold. Man gives her sack of turnip for to wear. Girl is much thankful for ride home.

Next morning man realize it is day for buying turnip at market, and girl still has sack. He goes to her house. No girl is there, only father. He says daughter died in salt mines ten years ago night before. Man returns to mule, turnip sack is on back of mule.
